Author’s note: Below is a special exhortation for those who were raised on the King
James Bible.
Hear O My People at Calvary Bible Church the words of the elders.MENE, MENE, TEKEL,
UPHARSIN, the children’s building has been weighed in the balance and found wanting.
So is it declared and shall come to pass that there shall not remain one cement
block upon another but all shall be thrown down. The eave which drips rain on all
who pass thereunder, the countless doors and hidden passageways which cause our
people to cry out in confusion shall be torn down, taken away and remembered no
more. So it has been vouchsafed, and so shall it come to pass. In its place shall
be thirty parking spaces, a thing precious in our sight. Moreover, the day is coming
and surely draweth nigh when the Main Street Auditorium shall be taken away. It
has been decided and surely shall be done, that bricks and mortar, wiring and conduit,
rafters and beams shall be pulled down and great shall be the fall thereof. Those
who pass by shall purse their lips and tell of the amazing thing which shall arise
there. No longer shall our people gather in makeshift rooms whose walls and ceilings
leak and use toilets which run indefinitely. Behold, in its place shall be a new
thing such has not been seen or heard of from the beginning, yea until this time.
For see, a new structure which shall be for our people a gathering place for praise
and edification. Yea, it has been declared and shall be done, sayeth the elders.
Fallen is the MSA! O, Calvary, this shall be a sign for you. When you see 1 million
dollars on the website, know that the construction is nigh. Then shall there be
great rejoicing in the land as our children are taught and our SUV’s are parked
conveniently. So shall passersby’s gape and declare "Where did that church come
from?" And men shall come from afar to praise and worship, and to speak of the great
thing which has been done. Now, O people of Calvary. We beseech you, all those whom
God has blessed so richly, to bring your offerings to the storehouse that this great
work may begin. Be not tightfisted nor withhold your first fruits, but be generous
to the Lord and He shall repay you. Let it be known that God will be a debtor to
no man. Surely He has provided enough and more among his people to accomplish this
thing. So may it be that our people, everyone who is moved of heart, that they shall
bring a generous offering for the building, its furniture and furnishings, that
all may be completed. And all that is done resound to the glory of the God whom
we serve.
