Your Significance

February, 2006

by: Dee Ellison

Recently, as Pastor Jack Hughes taught on the 8th Chapter of Luke, we learned that Jesus not only traveled with his 12 Disciples but also with “some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases….and many others.” Jesus had many women involved in the critical times of His life and ministry. These women traveled with Him providing many daily and practical needs for both Jesus and His disciples. These efforts, although not detailed in Scripture, enabled Jesus and His disciples to do the work God the Father had called Him to accomplish here on earth. These few words caused me to stop and think about their significance to us as women at Calvary. There are many ways we as women can minister and support our leaders and so be a part of furthering and strengthening the work that God desires to accomplish in this place.

The women at Calvary Bible Church have an important part in the ministry of Jesus Christ, first in our own homes and then in the church where God has placed us to serve Him.

The Women’s Ministry at Calvary Bible Church is here to encourage each of you to fulfill what God has called you to do… “to consider one another in order to stir up love and good works”Hebrews 10:24. The women’s leadership team (Women’s Council) purposefully plans Bible studies, seminars and retreats to train, equip and encourage you in the following areas:

The Women’s Council is comprised of women who represent the different areas of our church body. Their responsibility is to coordinate and give oversight to the many areas of ministry where women serve. Various Bible studies for women are offered at different times of the week and are in some cases directed to a specific group of women. Both evening seminars (T.I.P.S.) and morning seminars (E.T.C.) are offered on specific topics to encourage women in their walk with the Lord and their relationships with others in the Body of Christ. Our annual retreat provides an opportunity to spend extended time together studying God’s Word and building relationships with one another.

Each woman at Calvary impacts the ministry of our church as she fulfills her purpose using her God given gifts and abilities at home and in the church. In the months ahead the Calvary Review will highlight the different areas of ministry where you can be a significant part of God’s work here at Calvary Bible Church. As you read these articles consider; “What has God called me to do?”
