We meet in A3 (formerly known as WC3). From the welcome table, enter the main brick
building and go down the hallway to behind the main auditorium. Follow the signs
along the hallway and upstairs to Jr High.
Sunday Morning
Our main praise and teaching time (Sunday school) is Sunday mornings from 10:45am
to 12:15pm (“Second Hour”). Jr Highers are expected to attend the main service from
9am – 10:30am (“First Hour”) in the main auditorium with their parents. If your
adult Sunday school class meets first hour please feel free to contact a leader
to make arrangements for your son or daughter to sit with them during the main worship
service.
Sunday Night
On Sunday evenings, we split up by gender and generally by grade into “Small Groups”
for discipleship, devotion, prayer, and life-on-life Christian fellowship from 6pm
to 7:30pm. This time coincides with the adult classes taught in the main auditorium
and High School youth group times. Child care is also provided so that there is
something for every member of the family on Sunday evenings.
Small Group leaders:
- 6th grade girls – Becci Robertson
- 7th grade girls – Janice Paschke
- 8th grade girls – Sharon Brown
- 6th grade boys – Alvin Colston
- 7th grade boys – Alvin Colston / Walt Robertson
- 8th grade boys – Walt Robertson
From time-to-time, about once per month, all classes and small groups are preempted
by a “Family Fellowship Night” where we all gather together in the main auditorium
for Church Family activities such as baptisms, baby dedications, welcoming new members
(“right hand of fellowship”), and etc. Check the Announcements page for dates.
Wednesday Night
Wednesday evenings the Jr High Youth Group meets in A3 (aka - WC3) for praise, fellowship,
Bible Study, and prayer from 6:30pm to 8:30pm (please note: we run longer than AWANA
and shorter than High School).
Events
About once per month we have an event to foster outreach, service, and/or fellowship
among the students. Please check the announcements link for more information; flyer's
and postcards will also be sent home from time-to-time.
Camps
We hold two camps per year. Our smaller Winter camp is in conjunction with the High
School ministry and will be during the week of Jan 18th to the 21st , 2008 (Martin
Luther King Jr. weekend). The summer camp for 2008 is currently scheduled
for the second week in August, but this may change.
Philosophy of Ministry
The Jr High Ministry exists to come behind parents in their God given responsibility
to teach, train, and evangelize their children. We do not wish to usurp the role
of the parent in God’s design, but rather to reinforce godly principles that are
being taught at home.
We recognize Jr High is a time of evaluating and reevaluating the things that have
been taught from early age and coming to grips with what is to be believed and why.
It is a time of many changes; not only are Jr High students possibly attending a
new school, choosing more and different friends, but they are now able to take on
increasingly more responsibility and receive more privileges. They are maturing
mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is often a time when people
come to “own” their faith. Some finally understand the gospel, repent, and put their
faith in Christ. Some final rejections of salvation take place at this age, as well.
We strive to create an environment where Jr Highers are regularly encountering the
gospel both to evangelize and to be evangelized. We promote the fellowship of believers
and call the students to participate in the local body of Christ at Calvary Bible
Church in obedience to scripture.
