And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

I grew up in a home where the Lord was loved and honored. I was exposed to the Word and the gospel at an early age. I remember one school day morning when Mrs. Glaser, my first grade teacher, presented the gospel. I remember praying and asking the Lord into my life. As I look back, I know that I was saved, but my life took a slow and gradual pace to bring me to where I am today.

During my teen years, there were periods of idleness and little if any growth that came from my life. After graduating from High School, the Lord continued to be patient with me, protecting me and guiding me. However, I look back and I see how ineffective I was as a Christian.

After marrying my lovely wife Sheryl, beginning a career in the fire service, having three of our four children and attending Calvary Bible Church, the Holy Spirit began speaking to me and convicting me of past sin, of idleness and lack of fruit of the Spirit. Hebrews 5:12-13 speaks of how the Hebrew people were dull of hearing and that they were like infants in the Lord when they should be teachers and mature believers. I saw that as me. I began repenting of things in my past that the Holy Spirit convicted me of and was more sensitive to the Holy Spirit's moving in my life. My walk began taking bigger strides. My prayer time was more consistent (Ps. 5:1-3), my time in the Word was more convicting (Heb. 4:12) and my desire to serve in the church body increased (I Pet. 4:10-11).

Since that time, the Lord opened doors and has allowed me to serve in areas from Ushering, AWANA, the Children's Department, the Homebuilders class, the High School Department and the Elder Board.

Today, my desire is to serve on the Elder Board. The Lord has placed on my heart a deep love for this church body, a desire to share the gospel, call unbelievers to repentance, encourage others and bring glory to God!
