For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
I was born in Seattle, Washington, and enjoyed the great privilege and blessing of growing up in a Christian family. When I was 4 or 5 years old, my Dad explained the Gospel to me from John 3:16.
During my second year in College I lived with a Christian family who challenged me to discover for myself what I believed. I was learning from Scripture that the basis for my saving relationship with God is the finished work of His Son on the cross, and that Christ’s resurrection proves God the Father was satisfied with His sacrifice. (Acts 17:31) How amazing to be a child of God! What a great eternal hope we have in Him! (Romans 8:16-17)
God next blessed me with three years at a Christian College in Pennsylvania, where I met and married Becky, in May 1976. After a short stay in Chicago, we settled in Portland, Oregon (1978). The Lord gave us four children during this time: Marshall in ’82, Jordan in ’84, then Emily and Meghan.
In 1984 God guided us to a Bible-teaching Church near Portland. In 1992 He called Becky and me to teach in the Christian School there, which we did for eleven years. Between 1992 and 1999 the Lord involved me in several short-term church-planting trips to the Russian Far East.
Then, in 2003, God called us to Southern California, where I presently serve with the faculty and administration at The Master’s College. Becky teaches Third Grade at Santa Clarita Christian School.
We’re so grateful He brought us to Calvary Bible Church in the summer of 2003, where we’ve experienced His love and ministry afresh. Being part of a congregation where His Word is believed, faithfully opened, and taught each week is something we treasure, and don’t take for granted – it is rare.
I enjoy playing in the Church Orchestra, teaching in the Community of Faith Adult Sunday School class, serving on the Missions Leadership Team, and leading a Home Bible Study group. Becky likes helping in the Children’s ministry very much, and is great support to me in the ministries with which we’re involved.
I look forward to helping with the Burbank Health Care (Beverly Manor) and Hospitality ministries, and in any other way I can serve the Body here at Calvary.
Much more than that, I wait expectantly for the day when I will be completely changed (I Corinthians 15:51-57; I Thessalonians 4:15-17), and live with the Lord forever in the home He’s preparing for me! (Psalm 23:6; John 14:1-3)
