Key Scripture

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9,10

Biography

Having graduated from the mighty Village Christian High School, I proceeded to make my abode in Pullman, Washington, home of the Washington State Cougars (Rose Bowl '98). It was here that I majored in volleyball, er.. uh Math Education and found the most unbelievably perfect (or really close to it) woman. Katie married me and decided to have three kids in our first four years of marriage (I keep telling her to slow down!): Luke, Madelyne and Anabelle. After a few years of teaching Math to Junior High students, I quit. Actually, I really enjoyed my time teaching but sensed God moving me into youth ministry more full-time than part-time. I knew I needed training and therefore started education at The Master's Seminary as well as jumping into a youth internship with Calvary Bible Church. As I was finishing my MDiv, Calvary Bible Church hired me on as their youth pastor in April, 2004.

On a spiritual note, I grew up in a Pastor's home in Colorado, and was ‘saved’ at a young age. However, there were times in my young life where I did not reflect a changed, repentant heart and for me there was much doubt and confusion through my junior high years. I spent many a chapel and altar call asking Jesus into my heart over and over. But God really got a hold of me my Sophomore year of High School and through a series of circumstances I finally saw that living for Christ actually meant LIVING for Christ. High School is when I began to reflect the Spirit’s work in my life and really embrace Christ as my treasure. Coming to grips with the reality of Christ in High School is one of the things which motivates me to work with our High School students at Calvary.
