I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. II Timothy 4:1-4
I was born in Lompoc, California and lived in Ventura and Ojai, California until I was fourteen. I finished up high school in Garden Valley, Idaho, a small town about 50 miles north of Boise, Idaho. During my junior year of high school I was drawn to the Savior through the testimony of my brother and by reading the Word of God. Having a nominal Roman Catholic upbringing, I searched to find a church that would teach the Scriptures. I eventually ended up in an independent Bible church. I have been happily married to Lisa for over 20 years and we have three children, Leah, Nate, and Mark, who are in various stages of the teen years. I graduated from Boise State University with a degree in electronics technology. After college, I attended The Master's Seminary and received my M.Div. degree. Later I received my Doctorate of Ministry degree in expository preaching from Westminster Theological Seminary in Escondido, California. While completing my doctorate I had the privilege of writing a book for preachers called "Expository Preaching with Word Pictures: with illustrations from the sermons of Thomas Watson". After graduating from The Master's Seminary in 1991 we were called back to Idaho to minister at Grace Bible Church in Boise. During our time there we helped plant two other churches in neighboring towns. Then God, in His perfect wisdom, brought us to Calvary Bible Church in Burbank in 2000 where I preach and teach as much as I can. The people of Calvary Bible Church are hungry and eager for God's word! It is a privilege and joy to shepherd them. I also teach a class on expository preaching at The Master's Seminary.
