The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. Because God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
I grew up with a strong moral foundation and a desire to do right in the eyes of all the influential adults in my life. Upon finishing high school, however, I began to recognize the difference between how people saw me on the outside and what I knew I was like on the inside in my thoughts and desires. I also began to realize that, although I had a form of religion in which I prided myself, I had no love or passion for God, the things of God, or the Scriptures.
Having stopped going to church for the first time in my life, I began to seriously consider my standing before God. I started praying, telling God honestly that I didn’t have a desire for Him, the Bible, or the Church, but that I wanted Him to infuse those desires in me. I prayed this way every day for two months. As faithful believers shared the Scriptures with me in college, in November of 1976 God graciously illumined my heart to understand the gospel and immediately granted me those desires for Him and His Word that I had been seeking from Him. I had truly become a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, as Galatians 2:20 says, “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.”
The following year I transferred to Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and, three years later, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. A year or so after that I returned to school and earned a teaching credential. I have been teaching in elementary and middle school for 23 years now, and during that time have been involved in many areas of ministry in 3 or 4 different churches. From 1986 to 1989 I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico, teaching in a Christian school and attending and serving in a Spanish-speaking church. It was there that I met my wife, Fabiola. We married in July of 1989 and now have three children: David, Daniel, and Kayleen.
We have attended Calvary Bible Church since 2004 and we enjoy and are built up by every area of ministry here. I am currently serving in the Music and Worship Ministry, as part of the Adult Choir and also leading music at our monthly Men’s Breakfasts. I am also currently teaching the Common Ground Sunday School Class and have had the privilege of being a part of summer mission trips, as well. Our children love the children’s ministry and never want to miss church. We feel blessed and honored to serve alongside other believers who truly desire to glorify God in all that they do.
