I came to know the Lord at the tender age of 8, shortly after an outreach event at my parent’s church. I recognized that I was a sinner, and that following Christ, and making him my Lord was the only solution to my problem. I recognize now that this was the leading of the Holy Spirit. My walk has followed many turns, but throughout my journey, I have always known God was pursuing me.
In 1989, I married my first wife, Karen, and we were privileged to parent three children. In 2004, Karen was diagnosed with cancer, and we began praying together for God to use this trial for His glory, even if it was in a direction we had never considered. After a series of surgeries, and chemotherapy, the Lord decided to take Karen home after 21 years of marriage. My incredible CBC church body rallied around our family and my daughter’s 4th grade Sunday School Teacher, Esther, offered to mentor her on a weekly basis. After a year and a half, the Lord began to show me that He was opening a door to much more than Esther’s relationship with my daughter, and in 2012 the bravest woman I know, said “yes” to a widower with three kids.
That “yes” opened more ministry doors and I became a Deacon two years later and have been serving Calvary Bible Church since. My life has been truly blessed and I love the privilege of serving my church. My prayer for CBC is that our church always be a place for individuals and families to discover the unwavering truth of God’s word and a welcoming space to gather for fellowship, worship, and fun.
