In comparison to the previous 3 days of Passion Week, Wednesday passes by very quickly, but not without the growing hostility of the religious leaders. Prompted by the events of the previous days surrounding Jesus’ words and actions, the Jewish Sanhedrin deliberately plans on putting Jesus to death. However, they fear the people, knowing that initiating conflict with Jesus during the Jewish feasts of Passover and Unleavened Bread are likely to bring displeasure to the crowds and cause a riot. Thus, their plan is to kill Him after the feast. Remarkably, through all their plotting, the Lord Jesus continues to minister in the temple, teaching the people who continually come to hear Him.
