Leading our community of believers under the authority of the True Shepherd, Jesus Christ
Kempiz grew up attending Christian churches from an early age. Though externally, he sought to be as “moral” and socially “good” as possible, internally he was full of hatred, bitterness, and resentment toward God because of the death of his mother as a child.
However, shortly after his senior year of high school, the Lord, by His grace, broke him and saved him. In an amazing and loving way, God helped him to see that he was created to glorify God, and that the events of his life were ultimately for God’s glory and his good.
Not only did God save him, but shortly thereafter, God blessed Kempiz with his beautiful wife and best friend, Andrea. They were married on August 28, 1999. The Lord has granted them 5 beautiful children – Ezra, Joziah, Tytus, Demaris, and Chloe. His family enjoys family “beach days” and good gelato ice cream. By the grace of God, Kempiz received his Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries from The Master’s College, and his Master of Divinity from The Master’s Seminary. Kempiz began attending Calvary in 2009, initially serving in various capacities as Pastor of Discipleship and Equipping, before transitioning to his current role as Pastor-Teacher.
Pastor of Missions & Discipleship
It was late in his sophomore year at UCLA when the Lord graciously pursued Tim. A fellow engineering student who had recently become a Christian invited him to an on-campus Bible Study that was an outreach of Grace Community Church in Panorama City, CA. During that summer of 1986, Tim began reading the book of I John, which the Lord used to convict him of his need for a Savior. While waiting on a street corner in Santa Monica in October of 1986, Tim knew he was destined for hell and genuinely repented and believed, trusting in Christ’s work on the cross alone for his salvation.
Tim married his bride, Tina, in December of 1989 and since then the Lord has blessed them with five children. Tim graduated from UCLA with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While working as an engineer and serving in the leadership of the local church in Idaho, Tim began to strongly desire to enter the ministry full time and be better equipped to teach and preach the Word of God. Tim completed the Master of Divinity degree program at the end of 2006 at The Master’s Seminary, and the Doctorate of Ministry degree in 2018, in order to be better equipped for training pastors. Tim has been on staff at Calvary since January 2006.
Pastor of Children's Ministries
It was while he was in high school that Brock first learned about his need of Jesus Christ. Through a ministry called Sonburst he heard the gospel and made an initial profession of faith. This profession might be likened to the seed that fell on the rocky ground and sprung up quickly but when the sun had risen, it became withered because it had no depth to its roots (Mark 4:5-6). It wasn’t until shortly after graduating from college that Brock entered into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ (January 1989). By the grace of God, Brock was rescued from the pit of despair and his life has never been the same since. He immediately began reading the Bible and got involved in a small group. Since that time, Brock has worked in a variety of ministries and is currently the Children's Pastor at Calvary.
Brock lives in Burbank with his wife (Cristina) and three children (Jordan, Abby, and Joel). He has a Bachelor's degree in Communications with a Minor in Business from the University of Southern California and a Master of Divinity degree from the Master’s Seminary. Brock loves working with children and their parents and feels truly blessed to be a part of what the Lord is doing at Calvary.
Pastor of Youth & College Ministries
Alex grew up in a Christ-exalting home with parents who taught the Word faithfully. Although he had the opportunity to attend church and participate in mission trips from an early age, the Lord convicted Alex of the true cost of following Christ in early high school (Mark 8:34-35). He first began to pray about full-time ministry during college, and God graciously used a season of ministry in inner-city San Francisco to draw Alex to pursue pastoral service.
Alex graduated with Bachelor degrees in Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He also graduated with a Master’s of Divinity degree from The Master’s Seminary. By the Lord’s grace, Alex received the privilege of serving Calvary’s rising generation as Youth Pastor in 2018.
