What is Project 2030?

The CBC Worship Center has been a great blessing to several generations of worshippers since it was built from the ground up in 1984. It was so well designed and constructed, that in the 41 years since it was built, there have been little to no changes or updates to any of the key areas such as bathrooms, pews, carpeting, and the stage. Nonetheless, regardless of how well conceived and built it was, the need for replacements and upgrades is evident.

As a result, the pastors and elders of CBC have commissioned Project 2030 to design, finance, and complete upgrades and replacements in a wise, responsible, and financially prudent manner over the next five years. In the same way that the Worship Center has been a gift to us in our worship, we will leave a legacy for the next generation of believers at CBC.

The timeline and prioritization of projects and their completion will be governed by the Lord, based on how quickly we can come up with quality designs and plans that glorify Him, and how quickly we raise the necessary funds by the prayerful contribution from our members. We will not use debt for Project 2030.

The Three Phases of Project 2030

Phase 1: Worship Center Restrooms
Phase 2: Worship Center Platform
Phase 3: Carpeting, Pews, and remaining fixtures

Worship Center Redesign

Platform Redesign: Project Status

The scope for the platform redesign includes the stage, ceiling above, and walls beside, the baptistry, electrical, lighting, safety, and technical equipment for the stage.

The design team has designed our future worship platform concept which was revealed at the Calvary Quarterly on 11/16/2025. We are now in the architectural and engineering phase of the design, preparing applications for building permits, with construction to follow after permits are received.

The more than $400,000 in contributions received the far, combined with church reserves, provides enough to comfortably fund Phase 2 without any debt. As a result, the elders have green-lighted the Platform Redesign phase to move forward.

Q&A about Worship Center Platform

You probably have more questions. We've provided more information below!

What is the Worship Platform Project?

It includes the stage, ceiling above and walls beside it, the baptistry area, and all the related electrical, lighting, data, and safety elements inside them.

What’s the status of the Worship Center Platform Project?

Praise the Lord, the design team has designed our future worship platform which was revealed at the Calvary Quarterly!  We are now in the architectural and engineering design phase, working towards applying for building permits, with construction to follow after permits are received.

What will Phase 2 of Project 2030 cost?

The estimated total cost of the project, based upon what we know now, is $550,000. As we continue through the architectural and engineering work needed to come up with detailed plans, we will let the congregation know of any changes.

What factors into the cost of the Worship Center Platform Estimate?

The worship platform is the most technologically, electrically, mechanically, logistically, aesthetically, and spiritually complex area on the whole campus. The renovation is not just what you can see, it’s all the critical “nuts and bolts” inside that you don’t see, and also involves moving walls and structures as the area is restructured.

When will construction begin?

Construction will begin after we receive building permits. We are currently in preparation for applications for building permits. It is difficult to give an estimate of how long it will take before we can commence construction because we'll need the city's approval. The city's approval timeline is not under our control.

See “what is your role” below to learn how you can help.

Additional components of the Worship Center building, such as the carpeting and pews, will be addressed in Phase 3 of Project 2030.

Restrooms: Project Status

We are halfway through renovations of the two sets of restrooms (built in 1980s) downstairs near the worship center.

Praise the Lord, the first set of restrooms have been completed, within budget.   However,  they were completed later than the expected finish date of December.  The issues that delayed the first set of restrooms, mostly materials being back-ordered, should not be an issue for the second set of bathrooms, because we now have all the needed materials on hand.

We appreciate your prayers that this project will move forward smoothly without complications or disruptions and in a manner that glorifies Him, and for a continued harmonious and God-honoring relationship with our contractor and the city building and inspection department.

What is your Role?

Come to Calvary Quarterly events to hear updates from the team and check this page.

Let’s encourage the Project 2030 team by promoting unity within the body. We can follow the example of Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark (Acts 15) and make it our priority to advance the gospel even amidst differing opinions about design choices and funding priorities. We should avoid and discourage any unwholesome speech (Ephesians 4:29-32) such as grumbling (James 5:9, Philippians 2:14) about the inevitable disruption and mess that occurs during a building project.

  • Pray for God's hand in guiding the Project 2030 team to make decisions.

  • Praise the Lord for your faithful year-end giving!

  • Pray for the funds to complete this project.

  • Pray that the body will remain unified without dissension during this process.

  • Pray for diligence and wisdom for our Project 2030 team as we seek to work swiftly and thoughtfully.

  • Pray for our relationships with contractors, the city, and the inspection department.

  • Praise the Lord that the restrooms are coming together!

Consider giving to the project, over and above your regular contributions, by designating your extra giving to “Project 2030.”
