This Christmas season, as we focus on the coming of Christ into the world, we will do so with four messages designed to follow the advent of Jesus, beginning with the prophecy of Isaiah 6 where Jesus is foretold as Child, Son, Ruler with the names Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace. From there we move onto the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1:18-25 as the angel of the Lord appears to Joseph and instructs him regarding the Christ-child, to be born to his betrothed, Mary. The third message in Matthew 2:1-15 focuses on the visitors of Jesus, the Magi, who have followed a star in order to worship this new King. They are called to appear before King Herod and give testimony as to who it is they are seeking. The series culminates in Matthew 2:16-23 as Jesus and His family flee to Egypt while a great slaughter is taking place throughout the region of Bethlehem, before returning to their hometown of Nazareth. Be amazed, be blessed, and be comforted at the providence and sovereignty of God as He sends His only begotten Son into the world to save sinners like us.
