Having been born in a Christian home in northern California the Lord brought me personally to saving faith in Jesus Christ as a child. I was blessed like Timothy who “from childhood had known the sacred writings which are able to give the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 3:15). This impressed upon me the importance of the home and local church in the process of Christian discipleship. Being called to pastoral ministry, I pursued a theological education, earning a BA at Calvary University, as well as an MDiv and DMin at The Master’s Seminary.
I have served as lead pastor in two churches over the past 15 years and in youth ministry prior to that. When the opportunity to come to CBC as the Family Pastor was presented, my wife and I said, “This is what we have wanted to do all along!”
To be charged to shepherd the families that are discipling their children from the cradle through college is a profound honor and a humbling responsibility. All dependence and praise must be directed to God! Every effort as a pastor – whether preaching, discipleship, administration, and evangelism – are done for the purpose of caring for souls being conformed to the image of Christ (Colossians 1:28-29).
My hope for Calvary Bible Church is that the current generation of CBC will serve with the intent that the next generation of CBC will reflect Christ even better, brighter, and bolder! May we disciple with the expectation Paul had for Thessalonica as he said, “For who is our hope or joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? For you are our glory and joy (1 Thess 2:19-20).
I love to be with my family whether we are traveling for fun, playing board games at home, or getting in too many steps at Disneyland (all while eating snacks)!
