Jesus Ministers in the Temple Amidst Growing Hostility
In comparison to the last three days, Wednesday passes by very quickly, but not without growing hostility from the religious leaders. The events surrounding Jesus, particularly in and around the temple, only cause greater hatred and evil intent on the part of the religious leaders. The Jewish leaders, lead by the Jewish body of the Sanhedrin, deliberately plan to put Jesus to death.
However, they fear the people, and know that doing so during the feast would be displeasing to the multitudes. Thus, their plan is to kill Him after the feast. Through all of their plotting, Jesus continues to minister in the temple, going back and forth from the temple to Bethany.
